‘My first KingsMen Quest was an overwhelming experience – I felt as free as a bird, like a teenage boy on an adventure, together with other men. I loved those few days in the French Pyrenees. They were both physically and spiritually balanced with a variety of activities that left a profound impact on me.’
This is Egmonts story, a KingsMan from Latvia who discovered the pain and joy of knowing himself through the physical and spiritual challenges of a KingsMen’s Quest.
Self-discovery
‘Even though I was free as a bird, I did discover some hard facts about myself – I had almost no true friends, I had a hard time being proud of my own father, I was wearing too many masks and I was often being dishonest about my feelings… It wasn’t easy to realise this, but it made it possible for the process of healing to start. It was all with the presence and help of God who spoke to me in many ways during those days.’
Healing in progress
‘Over the course of two years and various KingsMen activities I have learned so much. Each experience has been different, but each so meaningful and necessary. My eyes are opening wider and more sunlight can come into my heart. The healing is still ongoing, but it’s giving me strength and hope that all is possible. And now with more men around me than ever – true King’s men who understand me and pray for me, it gives me the strength to soar again, free like a bird!’
