I signed up for KingsMen while I was in quite a difficult place spiritually.
I felt that maybe spending time with other men would somehow help me feel better. More like a man.
On the way to the quest itself, I didn’t have very high expectations. The only thing I expected was to meet other men. I was already feeling better and, honestly, I was moderately excited, equally about meeting the guys, the mountains, and the Dominican fathers with whom we were going to stay.
But the quest itself, to be honest, really surprised me. The way this program opens people up, or at least opened our group, was a big surprise. The level of safety I felt with them, to share the most intimate and difficult parts of my life, both past and present, is something I cannot compare to anything else. I can only compare it to my relationship with Krzysiek, whom I’ve known for twenty-five years. And honestly, after just two days, I already felt with all eleven participants at a similar level as I do with Krzysiek. I would say the highest level of connection. I don’t have siblings, so I don’t know what that’s like. I imagine it might be even closer. But with “my” KingsMen, you can talk about everything, share everything, even sit in silence together. For me, that is a sign of closeness. When you can be silent. When you can embrace. When there is brotherhood.
I invite everyone, try it, even if you are struggling, or maybe especially if you are struggling. Try it and sign up for Quest One. I hope you will experience such an amazing adventure as I did.
