During a course about leadership, I was directed to the possibility of a father/son weekend with KingsMen. I had never heard of them, but thought it could be really good.
So, in August 2018 my son and I had a first experience with this passionate organization.
Together with some other fathers and their sons we did fabulous things in the mountains of Luxembourg. We discovered how much fun it was to do exciting things with our sons, like building a fireplace, cooking, abseiling, and other things. We created a deeper bond with each other, and now a few years later, we are still talking about it.
During a father/daughter weekend, 8 months later, my daughter and I did really nice things too, but then in Friesland. Also, here the leaders had a well thought-out plan and great activities for the participants. It was so precious to share things alone with my daughter.
Both weekends enriched my relationships – one with my son and one with my daughter. We now share more time together and I do more things with each of them. I am really thankful that I had the opportunities to go with them on these activities.
Due to Covid-19 my first quest was cancelled but hopefully one will take place in the near future. In the meantime the daily invitation to meet each other through the ‘Kingsmen United in Prayer’ is a good opportunity to get to know one another and to be there for each other.
